Global Awareness, Opportunities, and You: Inspiring Students to Make an Impact

International education week - Sylvester Speaker

As part of International Education Week, the event “Global Awareness, Opportunities, and You” was held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Wellmont Regional Center for Performing Arts on the Northeast State College Blountville campus.

Sylvester Renner, Executive Director of Develop Africa and a native of Sierra Leone, was one of four featured speakers. He shared insights on the importance of global awareness, the work of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and how students can get involved—both during college and after graduation.

Drawing on his real-world experience in the nonprofit sector, he highlighted practical ways for young people to engage with global issues and make a meaningful impact through service and international development work.
